Very Soon....

It looks like I'll finally fly the T-34C Turbomentor this week, maybe as early as Tuesday. I finished up with CPT sims late last week and on Friday night all 13 of us in our class discovered that we're scheduled for "Fam 0" on Monday.

Fam 0, or Familiarization Flight #0 will be our first formal introduction to the T-34C as something we will fly. I'll meet my instructor known as my "IP" (Instructor Pilot) or more commonly my "On-Wing." He'll take me on a three hour tour of the flight line, the control tower, the Aircraft Issue desk, the Parachute Loft and test me on my ability to pre-flight and strap into a T-34C.

When I pass this I will be cleared for "Fam 1," my first real flight, I expect to be scheduled for that in a few days.

It's pretty amazing how fast things are going here... I'm not sure if I've elaborated on this in past entries, but I'm being shot through the flight school "pipeline" much faster than any of us expected. To put it in perspective, I ran into a couple guys who're ahead of me in the Primary syllabus by only a few months, I know them because they graduated from the Academy in 2006.

Although I would like to write about the rest of my Sims, I have to study more for Fam 0. I can't wait and I'm totally excited to be coming this close.

Wow, that's exciting. You mentioned that your pre-flight instruction was faster than normal, but thought it was due to Thanksgiving falling early this year. I wonder why the acceleration?
